Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children.

They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Teacher Sammie has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her music has taken her from singing on her backyard swingset with neighborhood friends to performing as a solo folk artist as well as in duos and bands with her husband, Cormac McCarthy and MAINESQUEEZE, to children's music all around the country.

While she still performs in other musical areas, children's music is her passion. She loves the sound of children's voices and seeing the delight on their faces when they dance and make music! She has received several children's music awards for her recordings and has a full-color book of her song, "The River in Your Town".  See more

Sammie is the Director of Treetops Music and the Music Together® classes in South Berwick & Kennebunk, Maine and Exeter, NH and is very excited about making music together!

Teacher Artty is new to Treetops Music this Fall (2019) and will be teaching a Saturday morning class in Exeter.

He's been a music man for two decades, playing harmonica, guitar, and singing across genres and in a variety of settings. Nowadays, Artty finds his joy in performing at family and community events throughout the area and has grown into a family-orientated children’s musician.

Artty has also been an elementary school teacher for eleven years where he integrates music with learning and promotes movement and dance with his teaching. With three young children of his own, Artty has made a commitment to sharing as much music with as many children as he can. He's looking forward to making music with you!
